My First T-Shirt Quilt
I have tubs and tubs of t-shirts from pre-school to school sports for each one of my children. I saved them to make a quilt for each one as a graduation present. And here we are only two months from my baby graduating and I have yet to start on his quilt. His will not be the first quilt I make, instead a dear friend asked me to help her make a quilt for her son.
I found a very simple pattern that I modified (of course). One day my friend brought over her bags and bags of t-shirts and we devised a plan; what shirts to use, where they would go on the quilt, etc. Due to our crazy schedules we hadn't had a chance to do anything since that day. Last night she came over to cut the shirts in half while I iron on the fusible webbing. Then I realized I didn't have the correct size ruler to cut the squares needed for the quilt. UGH! Our progress ended there, or so I thought. While putting away a safety pin in the top drawer of my sewing desk I found it, the 12.5" x 12.5" ruler! AMEN. I finished cutting all the t-shirts and will cut the strips of fabric next. More pictures to come, but it is a great start!
