New and Unfinished Projects

Image
Ever start a project with the best intentions, then get distracted by another project?  Or need to just walk away for a little while to figure out why it isn't quite what you had envisioned?  I have so many half finished projects for both reasons. Here is a list of my unfinished projects: 1. Two Wallets 2. Two Large Divided Baskets And lets not forget the accumulating pile of fabric that needs a home on my wall of fabric!  In the midst of my unfinished projects and trying to put fabric on bolts I had another idea.  See this is why I feel as if I never finish anything. American Flags Now of course I don't have any jute twine to finish the banner, garland, bunting...not sure what to call it exactly.  I do love how these turned out!  Just another project added to the list as I now have a large custom order to fill!

Vintage Pillowcases

Image
I've been a little busy going through my rolling carts.  I have listed several pillowcase fabrics and more fabric buttons.  Today I am working on listing pillowcases.  I have a love of embroidered pillowcases.  The time and detail that went into these vintage pillowcases is quite amazing.  I for one do not have the patience to sit and embroider for hours on end.  I hope all these find loving homes that will display the wonderful workmanship that went into making these lovely pieces. Update: T-shirt Quilt

Image
The t-shirt quilt is coming along nicely.  And as with any pattern I have tweaked this one.  My friend Leeza decided she wanted to sew as much of it as possible.  Teaching someone to sew and a quilt being their first project has its challenges.  First was the issue of the t-shirts bunching on her machine as she tried to sew them together.  A walking foot is a must with any quilting project.  I decided to sew the strips along the sides of the t-shirt panels to avoid any additional bunching until she could find a walking foot for her machine. Second issue was keeping a 3/8" seam allowance as straight as possible.  This is also a challenge with a new machine and no extension table.  I have an acrylic extension table for my Bernina.  It was a bit pricey, but well worth it! T-shirt Quilt Progress Today Leeza will be sewing the side panels together and the middle strips.  I will be quilting this for her as she will be on vacation next ...

My First T-Shirt Quilt

Image
I have tubs and tubs of t-shirts from pre-school to school sports for each one of my children.  I saved them to make a quilt for each one as a graduation present.  And here we are only two months from my baby graduating and I have yet to start on his quilt.  His will not be the first quilt I make, instead a dear friend asked me to help her make a quilt for her son. Leeza's T-shirt Quilt I found a very simple pattern that I modified (of course).  One day my friend brought over her bags and bags of t-shirts and we devised a plan; what shirts to use, where they would go on the quilt, etc. Due to our crazy schedules we hadn't had a chance to do anything since that day.  Last night she came over to cut the shirts in half while I iron on the fusible webbing.  Then I realized I didn't have the correct size ruler to cut the squares needed for the quilt.  UGH!  Our progress ended there, or so I thought.  While putting away a safety pin in the t...

My Mess

Image
Are you a neat crafter or are you like me, a messy crafter?  I tend to focus on the task at hand and not so much putting things back in their proper place.  Hence the mess.... The Office Floor I usually wait until I have finished my project to clean the floor, but today I could not take it anymore!  Tired of stepping over fabric and not being able to get what I need from the fabric wall prompted me to stop and clean.  I detest cleaning, but it has to be done. Now everything has moved from the floor to the cutting table.  I need to cut more bolts for fabric I have acquired.  I found some pretty awesome deals for yardage at the DAV; several yards of red corduroy and beige/white stripe for $0.74 each!  The white and chambray fabric in the middle of the picture came from an estate sale, $4.00 for both.  I am trying to buy more vintage or thrift fabric, but this one I found on Etsy and fell in love!  The Fabric Hive is a wonderful shop fu...
