Operation Office Overhaul 2015, Problem #1

Yes I am a hoarder, yes I do like to be organized, and yes I tend to make a mess in my office.  Glad we got that cleared up!  I decided that I needed to make my office (the sun room) look more professional, kind of like I had some idea of what I was doing.  Also I needed to stop wasting my hard earned money on sewing supplies I already had, but didn't know I had them.  I had tons of storage by way of rolling carts and shelving, but it was all still a jumbled mess.

Problem #1:  Fabric Storage
I have a lot of fabric.  If you have read my blog in the past you would know that I am an addict.  I freely admit this.  I have no intentions of giving up my addiction either.  That being said, now that I have solved this problem of storage I am much more picky about what I buy.

I purchased these shelves when we first moved here almost two years ago, from K-mart of all places. Now beware they are completely unfinished wood, sanding is a must.  I left the shelves natural and painted the legs, applying three coats of paste wax to the entire thing.

Fabric was stacked neatly on three of these, but I still couldn't really see what I had.  I loved the idea of putting my fabric back on bolts, but didn't have near enough of them.  Pinterest to the rescue! I would use foam boards to make my own bolts.  One piece of  20" x 30" foam board makes two 8" x 24"  "bolts".  I made "mini bolts", 6" x 12", for fabric less than a yard in length.  Moving all my shelving to one wall made it easier to see all the fabric.  I took one of the shelves apart to avoid blocking the windows. This left me with enough space to add another half shelf, which meant I could buy more fabric!

This was by far the most time consuming of the problems concerning my office overhaul, but 67 foam boards and 10 days later it was complete.
